What BurstPick is: a fast, wildlife-tuned tool for culling RAW bursts on your own machine — no cloud, no account, your originals untouched. It finds the keeper in each burst so you clear a shoot in minutes, then hands your picks back to Lightroom or Capture One via flags and XMP sidecars. It is deliberately a culler, not a catalog or library manager.

Founding members get all of this. BurstPick is a perpetual license — buy once and every improvement below lands in your copy at no extra cost.

  • Manual burst merge & split

    The #1 request. Combine bursts the detector over-split, or break one apart at the frame you choose — and your edits survive a rescan instead of quietly reverting.

  • Tune the score to your eye

    One panel adjusts everything: presets, per-criterion importance, and situational preferences. Or click Calibrate from my picks and let your own keepers set the weights.

  • Filter by keyword

    Filter the grid by the IPTC/XMP keywords already on your files, alongside the existing camera, ISO, and focal-length filters.

  • Delete to Trash

    Clear rejects straight from the grid or lightbox — recoverable in your OS Trash, with sidecars and stacked JPEGs going along with them.

  • Live folder watch, with pause/resume

    Point BurstPick at a folder while your card copies in; new frames group and score as they land. Pause the watch when you want the grid to hold still.

  • A dedicated bird eye-detection model

    Eye sharpness and catchlight scoring tuned for birds — including in-flight frames where the eye is small and the background is busy.

  • Faster, clearer scanning

    A live time-remaining estimate while a folder scans, and Alt+1–5 rating keys that never fight your star-rating muscle memory.

  • In-app "What's New" and window memory

    Release notes surface inside the app, and BurstPick reopens on the monitor and at the size you left it.

  • Smart Zoom

    Synced zoom that re-finds the subject in every frame of the burst, so the eye stays under the loupe as you step through — even when the animal moves across the frame. In beta with testers now, landing in v1.6.

On the roadmap

  • Incremental rescan

    Reprocess only the frames that changed on an explicit rescan, instead of re-scoring the whole folder.

  • More scoring refinements

    Edge cases like facing direction and edge-clipped subjects, plus continued bird-model training for fast-moving flight frames.

  • More keybind remaps & XMP label mapping

    Deeper round-tripping with Lightroom and Capture One.

Deliberately out of scope

BurstPick stays a focused wildlife culler. Full library and catalog management, user-selectable genre criteria, and general-purpose grading are out of scope by design — they would dilute what BurstPick is good at. Use it alongside your catalog tool, not instead of it.
