Fits your existing setup

Your camera. Your computer. Your editor.

Check the essentials before your first cull, including what travels with your keepers and what stays in BurstPick.

Choose the build for your computer.

8 GB RAM recommended. Scoring speed depends on your hardware, file format, and session size; use the trial to assess your own setup.

Intel builds remain available while their dependencies can be supported. Read the Intel support policy. For installation problems, use Install help.

RAW files and everyday image formats.

Supported RAW formats: Canon CR2/CR3, Nikon NEF/NRW, Sony ARW, Fujifilm RAF, Panasonic RW2, Olympus / OM System ORF, Pentax PEF, and Adobe DNG. Image formats: JPEG, HEIC/HEIF, TIFF, PNG, and AVIF.

Support for an extension does not guarantee every new camera or compression variant. Test a representative folder from your camera during the trial. Ask about a specific file if it does not open correctly.

For RAW+JPEG pairs, choose the RAW preview or camera JPEG as the scoring/viewing source in Settings. The RAW remains the exported source. Read the pairing settings.

Carry your choices into the editor.

  1. Cull first. Review and flag your photos in BurstPick before importing them into a catalog when possible.
  2. Choose how to hand off. Copy keepers into a new folder with “Write XMP sidecars” enabled, or use “Write XMP to Source” to leave image files in place and write metadata beside them.
  3. Read the metadata in your editor. Lightroom Classic reads sidecars at import; for an existing import, use Metadata → Read Metadata from File where appropriate.

Picks are represented using ratings and green labels, and rejects using a reject rating and red labels. Rating policies are configurable. A BurstPick pick is not a promise that every editor will display its own native Pick flag. Check your editor’s metadata settings.

What each editor needs

Existing edits are protected.

BurstPick leaves sidecars created by another editor untouched. The overwrite setting only applies to BurstPick’s own sidecars. If a source folder already contains your editor’s sidecars, export to a new folder with BurstPick sidecars rather than expecting an automatic metadata merge.

Local scoring, with occasional license checks.

Photos are processed on your computer. You need internet access to download the app, activate a purchased license, and periodically validate it. The current license behavior warns after seven days without successful validation and requires reconnection after fourteen days. Reconnect before a long trip without internet.

The 14-day trial starts on first launch and requires no credit card. Optional crash reports are off by default; support uploads happen only when you choose to share files. Read what information is sent and when.
